Appreciation and Reflection

The book Clever Katya has taught me about that people have different characters, ability, strength and weekness. For example, Katya and the Czar are both clever but they come from different backgrounds. Katya is a farmer's daughter whereas the Czar is from the royal family. Even though we might be clever, we must always be humble because there will be other people who are cleverer than us.
In doing this English folio, I have learnt to create, design and publish a blog on the internet. I have made use the lessons that I have learnt from my computer class that I have attending regularly. I also plan to continue updating my blog regularly.
Thank you Puan Ng and Puan Nalini for guiding me throughout this folio. It is a good idea to publish our folio on the internet. I think we should do all our folio and homework using the blog. Many thanks to my parents and brother for their help and ideas in creating this blog. Without my parents constant reminder, I would not have completed my blog on time.

Literature Part 1 - Book Review on the book "Clever Katya"

Story Book Title : Clever Katya
Story Retold By : Julia Donaldson
Illustrated By : Jane Kochnewitz
Publisher : Ginn

Book Summary
This story book titled "Clever Katya" is a retelling of a story of a beautiful and clever farmer's daughter named Katya. The story "Clever Katya" is an old Russian folk tale.

The main characters in this story are Katya and the Czar who is the King of Russia. Katya is a clever girl while the Czar thinks he is the cleverest person in Russia.

One day the Czar of Russia met Katya's father and asked for some bread. The Czar loves the tasty bread and asked the farmer who had baked the bread. The farmer told the Czar that Katya had made the bread. The Czar thought that the person who had baked the bread must be clever. In order to prove Katya is clever, the Czar asked Katya to solve three difficult tasks. Katya was able to solve all of them. This makes the Czar to fall in love with her and married her.

Katya made the Czar promised that if he ever gets unhappy with her and asked her to leave the Palace, she must be allowed to take one thing that she loves the most in the Palace. One day the Czar was unhappy and Katya took away the Czar in a chest brought him back to her home. When the Czar woke up he was annoyed at Katya. Katya reminded the Czar of his promise. The Czar finally realised that Katya was a clever person and made him very happy. The Czar realised that Katya love the Czar and not his riches.

The part I like the most in this story is when Katya reminded the Czar about his promise. I like this part because this part makes me laugh and made the Czar realised that he wasn't the cleverest person in Russia.
The lesson that I learn from this book is that we should never think that we the cleverest person in this world. Even we are clever and be humble. Another lesson I learn is that we must accept a person as she or he is and not for their status or for their riches.
Between the range of 0 to 5 I would rate this book at 5 because the book is an interesting read. It also give good moral advice. It uses simple words and easy to understand.

Introduction

Hi there, my name is Nur Suhaila Sallahudin. I am a 12 year old girl schooling at Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Bintang Utara, Kuala Lumpur. I will be sitting for my UPSR this year, so wish me good luck!! My favourite subject in school are Science, English and Pendidikan Jasmani(PJ). I love those subject because they are very interesting. During our Science lessons, we often carry out experiments in the Science Laboratory. For often use the Computer Laboratory for our English lessons. I like PJ because we get to play all sorts of fun games like basketball, hockey and badminton. Sometimes we get to do kids stuff like skipping rope and telematch.

I have a wonderful family. My father works as a General Manager in an ICT company. My mother is a full time housewife. My mother is also very active in our school's Parent & Teacher's Association. I have a brother named Noor Suhail. He also attends the same school as me. He is now in Primary 1 (Dynamic). I love my brother. He is cute but sometimes he can be annoying.

My hobbies are dancing, listening to good music and also reading good mystery story books. I love modern dancing and ballet. I enjoy doing this because it is fun and is a good form of exercise for me. I learn ballet dancing at Jean Gan Academy. I have been taught ballet since I was 4 years old. I am now pursuing Royal Academy of Dance London Grade 6 course at the Academy. I will be taking my ballet exam in April 2008. Wish me good luck, I want to achive a distinction like I did in the past. I am also learning to play the piano at Yamaha School of Music. I have also just complete my Theory examination and I achieved at score of 97%. I was awarded a trophy for my achievement.
My ambition is to become a doctor someday. I want to become a doctor because I like Science. I love to explore the unknown. Science teaches me about a lot of things like nature, space and the universe and the new technology like computers.

My main goal for the year 2008 is to pass my UPSR examination with flying colours. I want to achieve 5 A1s in the UPSR examination. I also hope that my school handball and robotic team, of which I am a team member, will be the champion in this year's competition among the school in our zone.
